Bahamas takes second place in 2015 IC Tennis Week

The Bahamas had four wins going into their final match at Breezes Superclubs against a strong USA team but lost by 3 matches to 1 making The USA the winners of The SG Trophy for the second consecutive time. The first event was won by Great Britain but The Bahamas has been pleased with second place the last two times beating out much larger countries. Teams playing in this event over the three times have included Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Austria, Belgium , USA, Germany and fellow Caribbean country Barbados.
In the opening match against the USA The Bahamas mens pair of John Antonas and Mas Kimball lost 6-0, 6-3 to a very strong USA team of Rob Castorri and Norm Chryst. Our ladies pair of Larikah Russell and Sue Kimball then levelled the match for The Bahamas with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mariana Holman and Janet Moseley. The next mens doubles was a comfortable win for the USA team of John Chatlak and Jeff Snow over Neil Mactaggart and an injury hit Sandy Reid to put the USA 2-1 up.
Next up was the older mixed doubles pairs with Mas & Sue Kimball against Rob Castori and Sue Sprague. This turned out to be an exciting and close match with The Bahamas eventually going down 7-5, 7-6 (9) to give The USA a winning lead and The SG Trophy for the second time running.
In the other matches Canada had a very close 3-2 win over Barbados to take third place with Barbados then in fourth place.
The other match between Great Britain and The International team was again close with Great Britain winning by 3 matches to 2 to take fifth place.
