IC Doubles Week Competition

Notes for IC Captains

Here are a few notes that you might like to pass on to your team. If possible, please bring a flag of your country. IC banners would also be appreciated.

WEATHER
The temperature will usually be in the 70’s (Fahrenheit) during the day and 60’s during the night, but could be plus or minus 10 degrees. So it is like a British summer. There is not much rain at this time of year, but It can be windy. Average water temperature is around 70 degrees.

COURTS   Breezes has 3 hard courts. As usual for the IC, we encourage white clothing - T shirts are acceptable.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS   Please ensure Krystine Brathwaite (Krystine.Brathwaite@superclubs.com) has your flight arrival details. After clearing Customs and Immigration at the airport, go to the Breezes desk in the exit area where they will arrange complimentary transport to the hotel.

WELCOME DESK   The Bahamas IC will have a Welcome Desk at Breezes. Please look for us.

CAPTAINS’ MEETING   A Captains’ Meeting will be held at 6 pm on Sunday 9th January in a meeting room upstairs from the Breezes entrance lobby. This is a separate area to the resort.

WELCOME COCKTAIL PARTY   This will be at 6.30 pm on Sunday 9th January, again upstairs from the Breezes entrance lobby. It will be a chance to meet IC friends and to brief participants about the week.

MATCHES   There will be two round robin groups of four country IC teams who will play every other team in their group on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

MATCH FORMAT   Each inter-country match will consist of 1 ladies doubles (40+ & 60+), 2 men’s doubles (50+ & 55+), (60+ & 65+), and 2 mixed doubles (40+ lady with 50/55+ man), (60+ lady with 60/65+ man). A total of 5 matches. Each match will be the format of the ATP Tour which is 2 No Ad sets followed by a 10-point tie break third set, if needed. Please continue the IC tradition of fairness, sportsmanship and friendship.

ACTIVITIES  Most teams will play their matches in the morning, starting early so the afternoons will generally be free. We have planned certain activities for these afternoons to enable our visitors to see more of Nassau. These trips are optional and may have limited numbers. Thursday will be a free day when participants can make their own arrangements.

FINALS DAY  Friday will be ‘Finals day’. In the morning the opposite numbers from each group will play in the format 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. In the afternoon the Grand Final will take place when the two winners of each group play each other for the SG Private Banking Trophy.

FINAL NIGHT PRESENTATION DINNER on Friday 14th January. It is recommended men wear jackets and IC ties.

BREEZES is an all inclusive resort so all meals and drinks are included, plus a number of activities. Dress is generally casual. BREEZES PHONE NUMBER   (242) 327-5356.
