The 2013 Bahamas IC Doubles Week

By popular request The Bahamas IC is repeating the six-day international IC Team Doubles Competition for eight country teams from Sunday, 13th January to Saturday, 19th January 2013. To learn about the last enjoyable event click HERE. There you can click on photos, videos and information about the first event.
FORMAT: Two round robin groups of four country teams. Each IC plays all teams in their group on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is an “Enjoy The Bahamas “ day with no formal tennis planned. Friday is “Finals Day” between opposite numbers in the round robins (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4) to decide the winner and next seven places. There will be a Presentation Dinner the same evening. This way all teams have four inter-country matches against other ICs.
TEAM COMPOSITION: A team is a minimum four men and two women. Countries are welcome to bring more players. Supporters are also welcome from any country. Age categories for teams are:
Man 50+, Man 55+ ( or combined age 110+).
Man 60+, Man 65+ ( or combined age 130+)
Lady 40+, Lady 60+ ( or combined age 105+).
Each inter-country match is 5 Doubles Matches (2 Men’s, 2 Mixed & 1 Ladies in age groups) using ATP doubles format. We plan to have teams playing primarily in the morning or afternoon so the rest of the day can be free to enjoy what The Bahamas and Breezes has to offer.
DATES: Latest arrival Sunday 13th January with earliest departure Saturday 19th January 2013.
VENUE: We are using Breezes Superclubs Bahamas again as the hotel and venue for tennis ( hard courts). Breezes is an “all inclusive “ resort so, as well as the room, all meals and drinks are included. We start play early as courts are on site. Breezes is located in the Cable Beach resort area of Nassau, Bahamas. It is a mid market venue of 390 rooms on a beach, with swimming pool and includes some free water sports, a rock climbing wall and some entertainment. It tends to cater to a slightly younger adult-only market. With our IC group consisting of 60 to 80 people, we will again create our own atmosphere. There is a casino nearby and other activities to enjoy during the week. While The Bahamas is a popular winter resort with weather usually good for tennis, please be aware it is not always true beach lazing weather at this time of year. Display a copy of the Breezes Registration Form to print HERE.
COSTS: There is no distinction between IC players and supporters who have the same hotel package with all meals and drinks included, plus a “Free Day” activity, a welcome Cocktail Party and a final night Presentation Dinner. This is US$125 per night per person sharing a twin room. Single occupancy is $173 per night. Triple occupancy $105. All taxes are included. While participants may wish to spend more and do extra things there is minimum need for additional expenditure. There is a “Team Entry” charge of $500 per country. Additional nights at Breezes for up to four days before, or after the main 6 nights are available at the same cost. We cannot guarantee refunds if anyone has to cancel but will try to obtain a substitute so we recommend holiday insurance.
ENTRIES: IC’s wishing to enter please advise Kit Spencer ( see below). Accepted entries are confirmed upon receipt of the Team Entry fee. Details on how to make team entry payments and how to book at Breezes will be advised after an accepted entry.
